"description": "I hope you’ll come to one of the monthly Saturday night dinners at the Tomes Supper Club, our home full of art, books, music, and soul-searching food near the nation’s capital. Some of the dishes frequently churned out of my kitchen: meaty braises, beautiful salads, comida criolla, savory and sweet pies, and marzipan cakes. Private parties of six or more are also welcome on any day except Sunday. \n\nI've been part of NOVA's food and wine scene since 2009 after a job at the National Gallery of Art drew me away from upstate New York's beautiful wine country where I'd spend days riding a fork lift, jumping inside wine presses with a hose, and playing frisbee. While a student at Cornell's Hotel School, I learned from the Statler Hotel chefs--admirable teachers of technique and creativity--and worked the line at Taverna Banfi. More recently, after two years defending premium cigars, I am now a happily married Del Ray resident blessed by the Lord with time and a peaceful home, raising two chubby little foodies, and hosting events on EatWith.\n\nAny given evening can be ripe for a round of Bananagrams, or my brother-in-law playing the violin, or spontaneous dancing, or lively lullabies, or a reading of one of Oscar Wilde's hilarious plays, or discussing my husband's latest obsession (electric bikes? aquaponics? financial markets?)\n\nI hope you'll join us!",
